Motivation defines motivation as:
Internal and external factors that stimulate desire and energy in people to be continually interested and committed to a job, role or subject, or to make an effort to attain a goal.

Right now I lack of motivation and I embrace that fact because I know it is not a permanent thing and I know I can do something about it. First of all, list all internal and external factors that influence my motivation so here we go:

1. I’m not a morning person, so I can’t do as many others (Ronald for example) who wake up earlier in the morning and jump off the bed to write some code.

2. I need a schedule to work, to keep me focus and organized.

3. I need to enjoy what I’m doing, I mean frustation can be a motivator sometimes, not always!

4. I have a full time job completly unrelated to games, and having limited time to work in your own projects, plus a house to keep, make food and other obligations, trust me it is hard.

So… how to stay motivated?

Motivation results from the interaction of both conscious and unconscious factors such as the (1) intensity of desire or need, (2) incentive or reward value of the goal, and (3) expectations of the individual and of his or her peers.

I have the great advantage of living near my workplace so, as I walk I make a mental plan of what I’m going to do and as soon as I get home I write down my goals for the day (that helps me with point 2) and I put myself to work.

I code for about an hour or two in the evening and then I get to do my daily chores that are also very organised in a weekly schedule.

I keep in contact almost daily with Ronald, he is a big support and is always showing me what he does or asking for some advice (point 3)

Other thing I do is really commiting to these projects, so my social life is having some troubles but from time to time I manage to go out and have a drink, I just try to give priority to Ossete Games.

And you? what are your techniques to keep the motivation flowing? I’ll let you know soon about my progress…
